Roles & Responsibilities
- Ensure implementation and compliance with EHS policies, procedures, and statutory safety requirements at the manufacturing facility.
- Conduct regular safety inspections, workplace observations, and audits to identify unsafe conditions and unsafe acts.
- Monitor manufacturing operations, machinery, equipment, and production activities to ensure safe working practices.
- Conduct Daily Toolbox Talks, Safety Talks, and Safety Induction Training for employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Ensure compliance with Permit-to-Work (PTW) systems for hot work, work at height, confined space, electrical work, excavation, lifting, and other high-risk activities.
- Conduct Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Risk Assessment, and Hazard Identification for manufacturing and maintenance activities.
- Ensure proper machine guarding and safe operation of machinery, rotating equipment, presses, cutting machines, conveyors, and other production equipment.
- Monitor LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) implementation during maintenance, repair, and servicing activities.
- Ensure safe handling, storage, and transportation of chemicals, hazardous substances, flammable materials, and industrial gases.
- Inspect and ensure proper availability and usage of PPE such as helmets, safety shoes, gloves, goggles, face shields, hearing protection, respiratory protection, and fall protection equipment.
- Monitor material handling and lifting operations, including cranes, hoists, forklifts, slings, shackles, and lifting accessories.
- Ensure safe movement and operation of forklifts, vehicles, and mobile equipment within the plant premises.
- Monitor work-at-height activities, scaffolding, ladders, platforms, and fall protection systems.
- Ensure safe execution of hot work, welding, gas cutting, grinding, and fabrication activities.
- Conduct inspections of fire extinguishers, hydrant systems, fire alarms, emergency exits, fire pumps, and other firefighting equipment.
- Participate in and support emergency preparedness, mock drills, evacuation drills, and emergency response activities.
- Investigate near misses, unsafe conditions, incidents, and accidents, identify root causes, and recommend corrective/preventive actions.
- Maintain records of incidents, near misses, inspections, safety observations, training, toolbox talks, and corrective actions.
- Monitor compliance with 5S, housekeeping, waste management, and safe access/egress requirements within the plant.
- Conduct contractor safety management, including contractor induction, documentation verification, work monitoring, and compliance checks.
- Coordinate with Production, Maintenance, Electrical, Utility, Stores, and other departments to ensure safe execution of activities.
- Ensure proper implementation of electrical safety procedures, including electrical panels, cables, earthing, isolation, and electrical work permits.
- Monitor occupational health and workplace safety aspects, including noise, dust, chemical exposure, ventilation, ergonomics, and illumination.
- Support implementation of EHS management systems and continuous safety improvement initiatives.
- Conduct periodic safety awareness campaigns, training programs, and behavioural safety initiatives.
- Follow up on identified safety observations and ensure timely closure of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly EHS reports to the concerned management.
- Ensure compliance with applicable Factories Act/Rules and other relevant statutory EHS requirements applicable to the manufacturing facility.
- Promote a strong safety culture and zero-incident mindset across employees and contractors.
